fuseproject moved to their new SOMA home in 2005, into a building previously occupied by a furniture store. All that remained of the previous inhabitants is the outside shell; fuseproject's space is a complete original design consisting of collaborative workspaces, environmental materials and unique aesthetics. Individual straw poles are drilled into the unique rubber cement floor thus enclosing the collaborative spaces in a permeable fashion. Colored plastic walls in the conference room, the display wall and the reference library provides practical and expressive contrast to the concrete and steel structure, echoing the unique blue light sculpture which hangs from the ceiling. The entrance and largest office wall is marked by a mural by Tucker Nichols, quoting the work process and life of the designers. <<
